Our Manufacturing Process
We don't broker steel. We manufacture it.
Every TOL building starts as American galvanized coil and leaves our floor as a finished, code-compliant package — engineered, fabricated, inspected, and shipped by the same family-run team. No middlemen, no offshore steel, no surprises at the job site. Just buildings we'd be proud to put on our own land.
From Coil to Curb Appeal.
Because we own every step in-house, we control the timeline and the quality. Here's exactly how your building comes to life.

Engineering & 3D Design
Every TOL building begins in our engineering department. Our team uses certified structural software to calculate the exact wind, snow, and seismic loads for your zip code. You get a fully engineered, code-compliant building — not a generic kit pulled off a shelf.
- PE-stamped drawings available in all 50 states
- IBC / IRC code-compliant load calculations
- Live 3D design previews before you order

American Steel Sourcing
We source 100% domestic steel from US mills — no offshore coil, no questionable gauges. Controlling the supply chain means consistent quality, accurate thickness, and a steady production schedule, even when the market gets tight.
- ASTM-grade hot-dipped galvanized coil
- G90 zinc coating for superior rust protection
- 12, 14, and 16-gauge framing options

Precision Roll Forming
Coil steel feeds into computer-controlled roll-forming lines that cold-form structural tubing, panels, and trim to exact engineering specs. Cold forming work-hardens the steel, increasing strength without adding weight or cost.
- CNC-controlled tolerances to within 1/16"
- Continuous, seamless wall and roof panels
- 29 and 26-gauge sheeting in 13 standard colors

Cutting & Punching
Every frame member is cut, notched, and punched on the same line — no field cutting, no field drilling. Bolt holes line up the first time, which means faster installs, cleaner connections, and a finished building that's truly square and plumb.
- Pre-punched bolt patterns at every connection
- Laser-square cuts for tight panel fits
- Numbered components for guided assembly

Certified Welding
Primary frame connections are welded by AWS-certified welders right on our floor. Every weld is visually inspected and tested against AWS D1.1 structural welding code. No subcontracted welding, no shortcuts, no mystery seams.
- AWS D1.1 structural welding compliance
- 100% visual inspection on primary frames
- MIG and stick processes for full penetration

Finishing & Coatings
Frames receive a corrosion-resistant primer; sheeting and trim arrive with bonded silicone-modified polyester (SMP) paint systems. The result: a fade-resistant, chalk-resistant finish that holds its color for decades — not seasons.
- SMP painted panels with 40-year color warranty
- Galvanized substrate for rust resistance
- 13 in-stock colors plus custom matching

Quality Control Inspection
Before any building leaves the floor, it's checked against the engineered drawings and a multi-point QC checklist. Dimensions, weld integrity, paint thickness, panel coverage — every item is signed off. If it doesn't pass, it doesn't ship.
- Multi-point pre-shipment QC checklist
- Mill cert and traceability on every coil lot
- Final dimensional check vs. PE drawings

Packaging & Direct Delivery
Your complete building package — framing, sheeting, trim, fasteners, and labeled drawings — is bundled, shrink-wrapped, and loaded onto our trucks for direct delivery. From the factory floor to your job site, with our crew handling every mile.
- Coordinated delivery to your install date
- Weather-protected, labeled bundles
- Optional turnkey installation by TOL crews
The Specs That Matter.
Anyone can sell you a metal building. We publish the numbers behind ours so you can compare apples to apples — and see why TOL outlasts the cheap competition.
G90 Galvanized Steel
0.90 oz/sq.ft. of zinc coating bonded to every framing member — the highest standard in the industry for long-term rust resistance.
14-Gauge Standard, 12-Gauge Available
Our standard frame is 14-gauge tubular steel — 25% thicker than the 16-gauge framing many competitors quote. Step up to 12-gauge for the heaviest snow and wind loads.
AWS D1.1 Welded Frames
Every primary frame connection meets the American Welding Society's structural code, with weld inspection on every unit before it leaves the floor.
PE-Stamped Engineering
Certified, engineered drawings stamped by a licensed Professional Engineer in your state — required for permits and approved by inspectors.

"If it doesn't pass our QC checklist, it doesn't get on the truck."
Every Building Earns the TOL Stamp.
Quality isn't a department at TOL — it's the whole floor. From the first cut to the last bundle on the truck, our team checks the work as it moves. Then a final multi-point inspection is signed off before anything ships.
Why In-House Changes Everything.
Plenty of metal-building "companies" are really just brokers — they take your deposit, then shop around for whoever can build it cheapest. We're not that. We are the manufacturer.
Built to the Codes That Inspectors Trust.
